From walking, to cross country wagon expeditions, steam engines, to the advancements in technology that brought about the internal combustion engine that gave us personal mobile vehicles, back to the trains but of the modern age. These trains can travel at hundreds of miles per hour. Back to the cars of the modern age where one can speed off along the highway at cruising speeds of 100+ miles per hour, not legally of course, but who is going to pass the judgement on them for it? How many years have passed since all this took place? To put it simple, not that long when you consider how long people were traveling my foot back in caveman days. When you look at the advancements in technology over the years you'll hear people proclaiming a 2x growth per year and from my footing I think they're right. Now to the main point of this string of words... If you are a fantasy addict like me, you always daydream about magic and lore and all those cool little goodies that don't exist in our world. Now I ask that you get on the same page as me and open your mind to the possibility of nano technology becoming a consumer level entity within our lifetimes. Yea, this is really stretching it, because honestly I even have a hard time thinking that'd happen, but still, daydreaming isn't against the law, and all the girls are legal! Assuming you know what possibilities are presented with the nano tech era you'll agree that we will be entering a sci-fi entitlement world wide within the next 50 or so years. 'Or so' in this writ refers to a plus or minus of maybe 20 years. We will be making more inovations that bring about realities from the 1980 science fiction movies we watched growing up. It might not be super great at first, but no technology was perfect at birth. Some people are probably wondering when I'll get to the fantasy section so here you are. The capabilities of nano technology are going to be huge. Scientists will eventually create nano robots that are capable of acting on an atomic level and enteracting specifically with protons and neutrons, and eventually, electrons as well. With the different inventions world wide such as the enductive electronic circuit storage device, a media storage device capable of storing 10kb of data housed in a unit the size of a grain of rice capable of being powered merely by the EME(Electro Magnetic Emenations) of nearby computer electronic equipment with enbedded wifi, who could NOT think that robots, self sustained in power based on their direct interaction with electrons won't be capable utilizing the same meathods of data storage and mobility and control that could create the next generation of assembly lines allowing for the creation of atomic specific technologies more advanced than todays super computers however only taking up the alloted space of... a grain of rice. Lets take this assembly line and create a product called nano-air. Incorporating nano technology on the surface of oxygen elements and being able to disperse them as simply as spraying an arosoul can. This is product number one that is necessary for our sci to fan conversion. Product number two will be a yew wand, 11 1/4 inches, slightly bendy with a core of super computers and an antenna. It'll look identical to whatever we want because on the surface, nano technology can look like anything we want, its the core that really matters. Now with our sofisticated programming and skills we are going to write an application that makes product 1 and 2 interact with eachother based on parameters that we decide. Lets use voice recognition and gyro technology. Flick of the wand and an allakhazam uttered from the lips will activate the 'alla' program which tells all the nano air particles (product1) to split electrons. Since everything will be trackable via IP addressing and wifi it'll be perfect, specific, accurate. The air molecules will preform a chain reaction from wand tip to destination(assuming product1 reaches the destination). The dispersion of product1 isn't that hard to conceive. Voila, you have an electric showwave sent forth. More time, money, research, and you can add colors(photons given off from electrons reaching outer energy levels and retracting back to lower ones give off light(photons). More programming would allow you to make these 'spells' preform different functions. On the nano scale such things as magic and alchemy are 100% possible. Theres no dout in my mind of this, the only thing we need to do is use our time wisely, otherwise it won't happen during our lifetimes, but perhaps our children's. Then again, I don't want Joe Schmoe using a magic wand to kill people instead of a gun so I'm sure when nano tech reaches higher capabilities it'll become a locked down technology. Well there you have it, technology will inevitably bring about our dreams of scifi and fantasy. Its all a matter of time. I'll bring the popcorn, feel free to wait with me. |
